I'm currently working on a story where the main characters travel extensive distances by flying on motorized hang gliders. Ones similar to these below, similar to the Comos Trike model.

Example 1
Example 2

I'm looking for people who have or know people who have flown one who can give me some practical answers about how they work. Right now, I'm focused on how the engines work and how they are steered.

What WriteKnight said.

I had a friend who used to fly Ultralights all the time. Fun things, scarier than hell though.

They are pretty much miniature aircraft.

Other than that, gliders are made to glide. Motorized means that they are light-weight planes.

I suppose not knowing the correct name is all the more proof of how much more I need to research and I hope to find a lot of good help her as well.

I'm glad to see that I'm already getting a responce. I know now how they are steered, but riht now I'd love for people to tell me anything and everything they can about the engines.
