Does anyone know anything about hot air balloons in the 1700s and today's modern day? I know they were invented back then by the Montgolfier brothers'.

My question is how much weight can they carry? And how high based on the weight can they fly?

What size width, height are they? And how much weight based on passengers can they carry?

How far a distance can they travel?

The first flight was 1783. So most of the century was spent trying to accomplish it.

Here's a decent starting point for learning about the development of hot air balloons.

Gotcha. Here's a blurb from a hot-air balloon service:
Our largest balloon carries 12 passengers and stands approximately 6 stories high with an air volume capacity of 330 000 cubic feet.
As mentioned in that same page, it depends on several factors.
