I have some comments and will probably start reworking my story, so no more betas needed :)

I have a fantasy novel I'm working on and revision-wise I'm pretty stuck. I would really like to have someone read over the first 9 chapters and tell me what is working and what isn't. Grammar and spelling wise it should be pretty polished, there might be a few things that slipped by me, but hopefully not many.

the 6 chapters are about 33,200 words total. it's first person POV. I would like to eventually make the whole novel available for a good beta read but overall it's still too short and the second half isn't polished enough for anyones eyes but mine lol. I'm hoping some insight on the first 9 chapters will help me move on with the rest of the editing and also help me expand the overall word count. at this point I'm just second guessing everything and I could really use a different set of eyes.

I would be more than happy to email just a chapter so you could decide if it's something you would be interested in or not. I can handle harsh criticism just fine.

here is a brief summary: (sorry if it sucks I'm having issues summarizing my novel)

Princess Asteria decides to make a run for the eastern kingdom after she learns her fiance is planning to start a war after they are married. She plans to propose to the younger prince of Varick, but doesn't get far before almost getting eaten by a giant lizard in the dangerous jungle. Luckily she meets Rian and he agrees to escort her the rest of the way.

PM me if you are interested or have questions. the plot is a lot more complicated than it seems in the summary. hope to hear from someone... :) and I would be willing to return the favor if whatever you're writing is compatible with my tastes.

ETA: I edited three more chapter so I added those on for beta reading in case anyone else was interested. I have a few beta readers right now though but wouldn't mind a few more. :)

Barn, is this MG, YA, or adult fiction?

I've thought about it as either YA or adult, but mostly adult b/c the characters are in their 20s

Cool. It was just that the giant lizard made me giggle, and I thought perhaps it was kiddie-lit.

I'll have a whack at the first chapter, if you like? And if my critting style suits you we can go from there. PM me for my email addy.

Me too.

What you have there for your "summary" made me think a little of the Princess Bride, which makes me curious enough to read. :)

I could also take a look at it.

I'm about 20k words into my own fantasy novel, but it probably needs at least one solid revision before any critique would be valuable.

I'm trying to avoid revising until I'm finished with the first draft, so that would be at least a few weeks away.
