Have any of you tried this? How did it go?

I've decided to give away my collection of dystopian & post-apocalyptic short stories for free until June 2nd. You can find it here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/147377

Has anyone else had success with this method of promotion? Would you ever consider doing it?

Depends on what you mean by "success."

Yes, one can give away a whole bunch of stories for free. Folks love to download free things.

As far as correlation with later paid sales ... I haven't seen it.

I use these coupons all the time to get review copies. I am not sure that giving the code out publicly makes more sense than just setting the price to zero.

That at least would be fair. If i paid for a book and found there was a code lying around that I didn't see--it would potentially annoy me.
