Hi, I have been in discussions with a writer in the US to prepare a 500 word article on a business. The writer quoted me US$95 per hour initially but has discounted it to $75 per hour plus a $45 administration fee for a total of US$420.00. The time calculated was six hours.

Tell me what you need. If it's in my skill set (and I suspect that it is) I'll happily provide a better price.

Thanks for the reply. This is for interviews with execs in a specialist industry sector.

For many years, I earned my living by interviewing people in industry and reporting on it. All the people I knew who did this called themselves researchers rather than writers. The interviewing is generally considered to be the difficult bit. If you try to hire one of these people for a day in the UK (and they're any good) most will charge more than this guy is offering to do it for. His price is not silly low, so it's likely you're being offered a good deal.
