Excerpts

I'm looking for blogs, sites, articles, etc. with lots of short excerpts from various published works of prose fiction (i.e., not fan-fiction). Examples of good writing, bad writing, funny writing, poetic description, offensive writing, whatever--anything with lots of excerpts. Not book store sites, though.

Because I find those sites very enjoyable, and every sensible suggestion has a decent chance of being added to my bookmarks list.

These sites offer me a much different experience than that of sifting through my bookshelf or library shelves and reading various passages, which I already do.

I guess you're assuming both provide the same thing, but they don't.

If anything, you're the most sane person who has replied. I don't even have a website. Serious amounts of paranoia, lol. The suspicious undertones of that first "Why?" were practically olfactible.

There's a wide net--there are sites with snippets of beautiful prose, there are sites with snippets of bad romance, a friend of mine has a site with snippets of a few particular authors, and so on.

For that reason the question was intentionally unspecific. Despite its lack of specificity, what it was asking for was pretty clear, though. Sites with excerpts of prose fiction. Figuring that out is not rocket entomology or something, jeez.

Libraries and bookshelves, uh, yeah, they're not the same thing.
