But do keep in mind that a "yes" is always possible. You have to keep the faith to get through the waiting. It wakes me up at night. Drives me insane all day. The only way I manage is to keep reminding myself that someday, one of those full requests will end up being a YES. And I'll probably think it's a prank phone call.

I sympathize.

I've just submitted my historical thriller to a competition ran by Orion Books. Never had a publisher look at my work before, never mind the big guys, so I'm bricking it. Probably the biggest highlight of my career so far.

It's not even the closing date yet. I'll be a wreck by May 31st!
