[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]This is so sad. An almost completely intact Horgr has been found in Ranheim. It was used until about a thousand years ago, when the population there buried it under peat to hide it and protect it from being desecrated by Christians. So of course, it was discovered recently in the midst of a development plan and is going to be bulldozed and destroyed to build houses.
I know it's an inevitable aspect of living somewhere with an ancient culture that anywhere we build, we'll be building over our ancestors, but this site is the first find of it's kind in Norway and it just seems a shame that the site was kept safe and hidden for a thousand years, just to fall like this.
Hopefully archaeologists can at least move and preserve aspects of it, if not the site itself. Although I wouldn't want to live in the homes built over it, given the circumstances. Wonder how pissed the Landvætter will be.
