View Full Version : Can I share some good news for once? It's about my wife.

My wife got a new job. A better one, with more $$!

She's worked at this company ten years as an accountant and in recent years the assistant business manager. A different company bought them about three years ago, let go a third of the staff, and canceled bonuses and raises. As a result, my wife's been doing the work of three people in the business office.

Recently her boss is going through menopause which adds to her strain. She wanted to look for a new job, and since I'm the "expert" at job hunting, I helped. We responded to three, including one looking for an assistant business manager. This company is about fifteen minutes away, and is on the way to day care.

I revamped her resume and wrote the cover letter.

They called back the next day for a phone interview.

After two more face-to-face interviews, they called back this morning and offered her the job!

I always knew she was awesome and very skilled at her job.

It includes full benefits plus she'll be making 12K more a year! She has better opportunity for growth and will be doing more managerial stuff than the other job.

She'll turn in her resignation letter today. (I wrote that for her, too.)

The only sad part for me is that I applied to this same company a month ago (and again last week) for an editorial assistant position. They never called me.

Drinks are on me!

And your writing helped:)

The increase in pay will really help the strain I'm sure. Good luck in your continued search. May this new result help ease some of your stress!

Already? Geez. It seems like only recently when you were seeking advice during your wife's pregnancy.

It's hard to believe sometimes how fast time passes...

I know what you mean. It's been amazing watching her grow up.

My wife's first day is March 26. The only downside I can see is that she'll get paid once a month, which means the first paycheck won't be until the end of April. That'll be hard to get used to.

But still, she's excited about the change, and it'll be a good move for her.

Sounds like great news. Congrats!
