I am going to be interviewing/profiling the new manager of a local government business for a local paper that I freelance for. I have all the formal questions written down, but I'd like to ask him some questions "off the beaten path". I met him once while on another assignment, and he was very charismatic.

Do you have any suggestions?

 Are you asking for suggestions OF "off the beaten path" questions? Or are you asking whether it's a good idea to stray from the subject of your interview? Don't understand. Sorry.

I am asking for suggestions for off the beaten path questions to ask him for the interveiw. :)

Basically, I would like for you to suggest to me questions to ask him that are outside the "norm".
