Okay, my esteemed writer colleagues, I did it. I submitted my first short story as per my W1S1 (monthly) commitment. Fortunately the new issue of my chosen market comes out in mid-February, so I shouldn't have to wait long for the yay or nay. Hope springs eternal--for all of us.

Thanks for the good wishes, folks. I'm determined to thicken my skin and keep at it. I do think it's likely that we improve with practice, and I hope that by having lots of stories out there circulating, you have less disappointment with any individual rejection.
