Abomination Magazine (http://www.abominationmagazine.com/) is open for submissions of Horror, Science Fiction, and Dark Fantasy.

We want well crafted fiction, poetry, and art that frightens our readers. If it's not scary, it's probably not for us. Stories should be 1,000 to 7,500 words in length, but we prefer stories that are right around 5,000 words. Poetry should fit on a single page.

We are currently paying 1 cent/word for short fiction and a $6 flat rate for poetry.

Please read the complete submission guidelines located on our website at http://www.AbominationMagazine.com (http://www.abominationmagazine.com/). Thank you for your time and we look forward to reading your tales of terror.

Sincerely,

Corey J. Goldberg, Editor

Hi Corey,

Thanks for letting us know about your publication, and congratulations on successfully achieving your Kickstarter fundraising goals! I'll definitely keep you in mind when I have something sufficiently horror-ish to send :)

One question: how firm is your lower word count. Will you look at longer flash pieces (like, 8-900 words)?

The 1000 word limit is not absolute. If you have a flash fiction piece that is under 1000 words, it will still be read and considered for publication. However, there is a much greater chance that if it is accepted, it would be as a Featured Story (payment in exposure only) rather than in the actual publication.

Sincerely,

That is one creepy illustration on the front page of your website!

Nice site. (And you've got good taste in your classic horror; e.g., "The Boarded Window" by Ambrose Bierce. Takes a moment for that final paragraph to really sink in.)

Good luck with that. Make sure to ask a moderator to move your thread into the "Paying Markets" section if your Kickstarter project succeeds.

Hi Corey, I just submitted a 2,000 word short story for consideration. I hope to hear back from you soon.

Dear Mr. Goldberg,

Might a fellow go, say, a few lines onto a second page for a poetry submission?

Thanks. Nice touch spotlighting 'The Yellow Wallpaper'.

Sent in a submission, I'm going to take it that if I didn't hear back it wasn't accepted?

When is the due date for this issue?

Issue #2 is due out in July.

Colossus, when did you send your submission? It is possible that it is still being considered for the next issue. If it was sent before March 15th and you didn't get a reply, it was never received for unknown reasons.

Thanks again to everyone that has submitted.

Sincerely,

Corey J. Goldberg

The site says issue #4 has been put on hold indefinitely. I *assume* that means the zine is on hold...

Thread necromancy in this particular forum generates false hope for some of us, and wastes a decent amount of time. =/
