Poetry has never been a big part of what I write, and I get pretty harsh crits on poetry forums. But nevertheless I sent some poetry in as submissions to a book called 'Illuminations'. Well now they say they are accepting two of them and will be playing $50 each. Color me stunned.

revision work, or your poetry critters didn't know what they were talking about and you submitted your pieces "as is" :ROFL:

Sounds familiar. The very first two sci-fi poems I ever wrote, I sent into Amazing Stories. Sold, boom. One for $175 and the other for $125. Go figure.
