The husband of one of my MC was killed by a drunk driver in CA. She filed a wrongful suit against the driver, finding out it wasn't his first DUI.
How long would such a suit last before it's completely settled? I read that this type of suit is different from punitive damages. So, the widow would be compensated from both, the lawsuit and punitive damages?
