So after days of possible (probable) over-hyping with trailers for the trailer, in a trend I am sure we're all going to rue before too long, it's out.

And I don't care about the over-hyping anymore.

Because it's here.

And if that doesn't look like the prequel to Alien, I don't know what else it is. It's the same ship, it's the space-jockey's head and that chair thingy, and if I'm not too much mistaken, that's a face-hugger in the jar.

So while there might not be any actual xenomorphs in it, I don't see any way this can be anything other than part of the franchise.

Which means, between this and Predators, maybe we can all now forget those two AVP movies ever happened. Maybe?

:hooray:

As a fan of the AVP movies (sorry, I can't help it!) I'm always up for more of that.

BUT . . .

They are not the same as the original Alien vision (and I include Aliens in that as well though will not give much more than an indiscernible nod toward #3).

This looks fantastic. Dark, gritty, truly creepy.

I know that there has always been an AVP element (at least in the comics), but the way the AVP movie(s) were executed were too schlocky and Hollywood for me. As fun as it was to read this crossover, I'm not so sure it can compare to Alien or Aliens. Different series in my mind.

It's hard to believe that Alien came out in 1979. Such an amazing contribution to sci-fi and horror. Very much looking forward to this one.

I'll try not to hold that against you.

:D

While each of the four Alien films had a different feel to them, I'm hoping this is a return to some of that truly suspenseful atmosphere that marked the first one.

Because no matter how many times I've seen the first - and it's a lot- there are parts that still make me jump.

OH GOD I am so excited for this! Scifi-Horror is my favorite mishmash genres! Not to mention since I first saw the Space Jocky's in that chair I've been DYING to know more about them! I think I was more curious about them, then anything.

lol! They are a guilty pleasure! :D

Three and four really did not sit well with me. I almost wish I could delete them from my brain and leave on the last image of Ripley, Newt and Hicks getting safely into their freezers. :)

And I agree about Alien. It was so crazy. I saw it a few years after it came out in theaters (on HBO or some such), and it scared the holy heck out of me. It's one of those movies where you see knock-offs or other alien/horror movies and they always fall short. The tension, the mood, everything was so spot on. To this day it's one of my favorite Ridley Scott movies. And the fact that he's returning to the "franchise" makes me giddier than heck.

I cannot express just how much I want to see this. For almost two decades I've been let down by the various Alien sequels (except for Aliens). But this looks truly fantastic. It's going to be a long wait. :)

As soon as I saw the horseshoe shaped ship I started freaking out a bit. Super excited for this.

An Alien prequel with Fassbender? I'm dreaming, right?

I'm really looking forward to this, but I have to say it's been hard as hell to watch the NBA Playoffs and avoid the seemingly spoiler-ific commercials. I'm having to go quickdraw on the remote control like a gunslinger whenever an ad comes on.

I am beyond psyched for this. This and the new Batman movie are the only two I'm dying to see this summer, this obviously being number one just because of how wicked it looks.

My all time favorite sound effect EVER is that eerie "screaming" noise that's in the Prometheus trailer...and, my favorite thing is that it was in the original Alien trailer as well!

I'm really, really excited for this film. It looks like a return to form for the Alien universe. I'm so excited for it, I'm even willing to tolerate 3D if there isn't a 2D screening near me.

Ugh, I hope there's a 2D screening of this. I can't stand 3D; too dark and wearing those annoying glasses. Anyway, can't wait for this to come out!

Someone watch this twice for me. It's only showing in 3d around here and, well, apparently the movie theaters don't give a damn about us cyclopes. *sigh* I swear it's been three years since I saw a movie in theaters because of this bull.

Just found out a cinema not-too-far from me is showing it in both 3D and 2D! Very happy. Now all I have to do is convince the little sis-in-law that the 2D cinema is the best option...

I can't wait to see this movie in 2D. 3D movies seem like a lot of hype, plus the glasses drive me crazy.:tongue

Alien is my most favorite movie ever. I've seen it more times than I will ever admit. I am beyond excited for Prometheus (The space jockey! The ship! The snippet of xenomorph (albeit of a different flavor) visible in the trailer!) and I'm counting down the days. I'm planning to go to the 12:01 showing on opening night/morning. :D

Someone took the Cars 2 trailer - yes, the Pixar one - and cut it to the music of the Prometheus trailer.

It suddenly looked horrifying in a "so not for little kids" way.

:D

Not reading any reviews before I go to see it. I've even forced myself to only watch the trailer once, so I don't remember any of the good bits from it by the time I see the movie.

Whether it sucks or not, I want to experience it fresh.
