Mine as well, and for almost the same reason, except I never got to know my grampa very well.

I also like Star of Wonder, Star of Night, especially this version by Tori Amos

For contemporary Christmas songs, it's hard to beat a bit of Paul Simon.

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day is my absolute favorite and the lyrics are awesome. (The new version that's been around the last few years is nice too, but I like the classic one better.)

I dislike having music shoved down my throat as well, particularly Christmas music before Thanksgiving, which drove me up a wall in stores here this year. But I do have favorite Christmas music, when I choose to listen to it.

My most favorite would have to be Little Drummer Boy. It has a great message to it about giving of your talents instead of materially and is beautiful song.

Actually, this isn't true. I do enjoy the Baltimore favorite, "Walking In An Essex Wonderland. It's sung to the tune of Winter Wonderland (naturally) in an "Ease Ballmere ax-ant."
