There's music you love, and then there's that song.

The song that instantly turns you into a squealing thirteen-year-old infested by boogie-bugs. The song that makes you leap around the room like a puppy on meth. The song you happily bellow along to while your loved ones cower in searing, crimson embarrassment.

What's that song?

(For me it's Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles, which I fell in love with when I was still a wee kiddie:

.....................................Ah, I have never heard either one of those songs. I must have been on another planet when they were out.

I have so many 'old' songs that set my feet to prancing. I'll have to come back to this.

(Cliff...you like that type of music that the second link you shared?)

Both links were metal, and I like quite a bit of metal, yes. :)

Do you ask to mock me, or recommend another band? :tongue

(But actually, The Agonist is my current favourite band. It's kind of rare to find a female singer who will do growl vocals, and as it happens she's an animal rights activist, which just makes the band all the more appealing. If you want a tamer song of theirs, check out Thank You Pain.)

Down Sweet Home Alabama.... that can cause me to tap the foot and even jump up and dance a bit.

(Cliff....not making fun of you. Was just showing our generation gap thingy.) :D

LOL. To be fair, most people my age don't like metal either. :tongue

My taste in music was born of teenage angst. First it was Blink 182 and The Offspring, then I wanted something heavier and found KoRn and Slipknot, then I wanted something darker and found Marilyn Manson, and from those last 3 I decided I needed the heaviest, darkest music I could find, and I found Cradle Of Filth - the first proper metal band I ever heard.

Her Ghost In The Fog was the first proper metal song I ever heard, which is probably why it's a constant favourite of mine.

And from the seeds of that song, I've had a 10 year love-affair with metal of most kinds. (Wow, now I'M showing MY age!)

If you're interested in something a little lighter, check out Chalice - Abyss.

I've actually seen this band play live twice, and once played laser tag with the singer and drummer (without realising until someone pointed it out the following week). I love this band, but they've split up. :(

Abyss is probably my favourite of theirs. It's doom metal, which is why it's a lot easier to listen to than the other ones (death metal). :)

These songs don't always make me dance around like a puppy... I think it may have something to do with my expectations, if I'm somewhat surprised that it's playing... then there's a way better chance of my bouncing about.

Pretty much any 16-bar boogie with a walking bass.

It's dependent on my mood. Too heavy when I'm feeling light, or too light when I need it heavy, and it won't connect. Either way I'd be here for days listing them all. :tongue

All this digging up music had me running across some total nostalgia.
I grew up in backwoods country bars. The highlight of the summer was a live band on a Saturday night. This is the one song I absolutely had to get up and dance to. My all time favorite. If there was no one to dance with, I would dance by myself.

(Keep in mind the lyrics were written in the 50's)

Ghost Love Score by nightwish.

Makes me jump around like an idiot. I write most of my dramatic fight scenes to that or Kinslayer by the same band. They usually then have to be substantially revised because they get super ridiculous.

Cliff, I'm also a CoF fan, saw them live in my city when I was about 15. The bassist asked me back stage, and I had to tell him I was 15. Should have lied ;) honesty is a curse I've long had to live with. I have to say I prefer Born in a Burial gown for my jumping around.

I'm so happy this thread is turning into a chance to chair-dance in my office. Bring on those links! :D
