But it humors me immensly.
I am always professional in my correspondance with editors, even when they aren't professional with me. I think many times we writer's want to respond to a rejection with a scathing note about how the editor doesn't know squat and we're better than they think, but we never do (or we shouldn't, it's bridge burning!)
Well, and I'm aware this is imature and unprofessional for me to take delight in, but it is sooo humorous to me. There's an editor I submitted to off and on for nearly two years, they rejected everything I sent, sometimes (I thought) with a snippy tone and even stated some of my work was unfit to be published (despite my opinion it was perfect for their mag).
Well victory is mine! Not only was it published, but coincidentally enough several of those rejected pieces were not only pubbed in the same markets the rejecting editor was pubbed in, but pubbed right next to that editor's work. Can ya dig it?! The editor said it was crap and another editor saw fit to put it right next to that editors work in another magazine. Better than that it happened in three different mags! (I swear I'm not stalking the rejecting editor) AND AND my name was listed on a publicity sheet aqbove and in bigger type than the rejecting editor/writer. Mwhahah and to top it all off, someone mentioned having read one of the said "unpublishable" works on the rejecting editors message board and said how much they liked it! Hahahahah I don't know if the editor noticed, but if they read it in their contributor copy it had to sound familiar, and I KNOW they know my name.
So eat that editors of the rejection persuasion!
