View Full Version : AWMonday Memes - Changing from Weekly to Monthly

Hi, as promised (or threatened, however the case may be) here's the Monday Meme thread.

The idea (note, NOT RULES - there are no rules - just ideas)

If you do decide to pick up the meme, I recommend you link back to this thread and to the blogs of the non-AW people you tagged to do the meme.

I think it would be fun to create a searchable listing of all the blogs that are picking up the meme. So I've created a Technorati tag. You can add this code to the bottom of your post and ask anyone you tag to do the same:

<a href="http://technorati.com/tag/AWMondayMemes" rel="tag">AWMondayMemes</a>

Please use that tag and not create a new one so all our MondayMeme posts will show up under the same search. :)

It would also be nice, if you decide to play along, if you came back to this thread and told us you're picking up the meme. You can mention who you tagged as well. You don't have to tag anyone who participates in this forum - everyone is considered "tagged" - but you can if you want to. :)

Monday, December 5th Meme:

Feeling rather holiday-ish tonight I thought the first AWMondayMeme should be: what are the 10 books or sets of books you most wish you could find under/beside/in your {insert appropriate holiday decor/object}?

Get creative - whether it's a signed first edition or a illuminated manuscript, anything goes!

I've already posted my answer in my blog and put the Technorati tag in place as well.

If you have ideas for future memes just let me know - all suggestions are welcome.

I'm trying to go see all the Monday Memes - if you put one up, could you come back here and post a "me too" post so I don't miss one? :)

Hi Dawno. I post a Monday Meme. I think I have the tag in correctly for the technorati tag. I'm still not sure about my name tag beside it. LOL

<peeks out from under a rock> >''<

am I missing something here? Am I supposed to make up questions and pass them around, too?

And how will I know if I get tagged again unless someone steps on my rock and wakes me up?

Dawno

You can post your own meme on your blog and tag others. If you get tagged again one would hope that the 'tagger' lets you know via a comment on your blog or a PM here. This thread is just for the AWMondayMemes (stay tuned for Dec 12ths!) and for folks to let us all know they did theirs. :)

Dawno--to sign up all I need to do is create a post, copy and paste the tag on that post?

Dawno
12-09-2005, 09:04 PM
You don't have to do anything but post the meme in your blog - all the tag does is aggregate all the tagged posts in one place on Technorati for easy search.

If you "tag" someone else to do the meme you can let them in on the HTML tag as well.

I'm looking forward to reading your answers!

I don't think I did it right. But it is up any way. Let me know.

Great list!

If you were curious about the "AWMondayMemes" tag it needs to be entered into the HTML editor window - if you just cut and paste into the compose window it doesn't seem to work. But, like I said, it's not a big deal - just one of Dawno's crazy ideas.

Thanks for the tip on the comments thing. I went in and changed it to anyone can comment.

I still am unsure on the tag, think you could come over and help me? Seriously I will just post and tag like I did. We'll see what happens...

I couldn't *change* it to say something else, like: Look Here
please don't make it any harder than it is. my brain hurts now.

Dec. 12th AWMondayMeme

List the holiday songs you know by heart, but only the ones where you know more than just the first verse.

You you can list as many as you want - could be bragging rights at stake here...;) Certainly feel free to quote any verse you're unusually proud you know. Like the third verse of Adeste Fedelis...I'd be proud if I could remember it, but I only know two by heart.

By the way, a "holiday song" is any seasonal song. Winter Wonderland, Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer or Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer...

The tag is <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/AWMondayMemes" rel="tag">AWMondayMemes</a> if you care to use it :)

Unique

Nope, scarlett. I have to have these things explained to me in great detail. Oh, Dawno! Whereforartthou, Dawno?Basically, you answer the questions and post your answers in your blog. If you have the AW MeMe you add the tag lines:<a href="http://technorati.com/tag/AWMondayMemes" rel="tag">AWMondayMemes</a> so "something/one can 'find' you" and get us all in one place. (I think)

I was tagged over the weekend but I still don't get what memes are or how you 'do' them. Am I stupid?

Nope. Hope this helps:

Meme Primer

What is a Meme? I think this Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme) has a good explanation.

Aren't memes a silly waste of time? Sure. I think that's the point. :)

What does it mean to be 'tagged' to do a meme? Someone else got tagged (or is the originator of the meme) and wants you to play along.

What do I do if I'm tagged? Refer to the person who tagged you by a link back to their post, complete the meme and tag someone else to propagate the meme. Or not. You can ignore it completely. Memes are like chain letters, but without the dire warnings - you really can't stop them, you can only ignore them.

What is the AW Monday Meme? A silly idea cooked up by Dawno for anyone interested in playing along. These memes will be posted in this thread. You can do the meme and tag someone but anyone who reads this thread is "tagged"

What is the "Technorati Tag" for? The Technorati tag tells Technorati that your post is an AW Monday Meme. If you include the HTML at the bottom of your post and 'ping' Technorati with your site the tagged AW Monday Memes are listed at Technorati (http://technorati.com/tag/AWMondayMemes). It's a way to aggregate the memes and search them. Wanna see what jdkiggins wrote, or srthrnwriter, or Unique? Check the list!

What is the HTML for the Technorati tag? <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/AWMondayMemes" rel="tag">AWMondayMemes</a>

How do I 'ping' Technorati? Go to the manual ping page (http://technorati.com/ping/) and enter your website URL.

Do I put a Technorati Tag on a meme if it's not an AW Monday Meme? I'd rather you only use it for the AW memes, but sure, if you want to.

Did that help?

Folks, if you read no other blog this day, week, month or year - go read Unique's Monday Meme response. (http://uniquematerialblowingsmoke.blogspot.com/2005/12/christmas-songs-i-know-by-heart.html)

Just don't be drinking any beverage, ok? Your keyboard would thank you if it could...

Five Monday Meme's on the list so far! Do go read them even if you don't do one yourself. You'll find them listed here (http://technorati.com/tag/AWMondayMemes).

If you did one but didn't put a Technorati tag on it, do come by here and let us know to go take a peek at your post!

Hi again! Thanks to all of you who did last week's meme. I'll post another Monday the 19th but then we'll all get a break for two weeks. So no meme on the 26th or 2nd of Jan. If we don't cross paths here or on our blogs - I hope everyone feels joy and love on the holiday they celebrate.

Did you go do a manual ping? Sometimes it takes tags on blogger days to show up. I can't figure out why.

Dawno

This meme comes from Veinglory's blog (http://www.livejournal.com/users/emilyveinglory/11827.html). I loved it (almost as much as the gay zombie penguins (http://www.livejournal.com/users/gayzombipenguin/), but not quite). So, in the truest tradition of meme-ing I'm passing it along to you. (and, yes, I did post my 'memory' in Veinglory's comments (http://www.livejournal.com/users/emilyveinglory/11827.html?thread=38195#t38195). You'll understand what I mean when you read on.)

This is a bit like a writing prompt. You are being asked to compose a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and someone else on AW or your blog-roll. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. Identify who the person is and link to their blog or AW Profile as well. Feel free to tag them to pass on the meme if you'd like.

Now, if you want to propagate the meme, as part of your post you should include the following text:

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.

As always, I'd love it if you'd use the AWMondayMemes (http://technorati.com/tag/AWMondayMemes)'s tag.

I've gotten some comments about that tag - that folks have used it and they're not showing up on Technorati. Since I'm not an expert in how it works all I can suggest is that you manually ping Technorati that you've updated your blog. If you want me to drop by your blog and see if you've done the tag right, I'm happy to do so. Just ask me in comments, on the AW Monday Meme's thread or PM me.

Hiya and welcome to the first Monday Meme of 2006.

One of the things memes can do is give us some insight into who each other are. There are a number of folks who have posted a "100 Things" meme that went around a while back. You can learn a lot about folks reading those. I won't ask you for that one (today). But I have ten questions for you to answer so we can get a glimpse

1. What is your most hated and dreaded household chore. Why?
2. Do you ever drink out of the beverage container or always pour a glass?
3. Over the counter pain relief: Asprin, acetominiphen or ibuprophen? (if those aren't your options, what are?)
4. What was the first car (or motorcycle if that's the case) you bought for yourself?
5. It's a lovely, sunny weekend day. What would you go do if you could do whatever you wanted to do (within your usual means).
6. Name your favorite board game.
7. How many blankets do you sleep under and how many pillows do you use?
8. How many pets and of what type do you currently live with? You may name them if you wish.
9. Biggest grammar peeve.
10. Favorite flower or other plant, should you not be into flowers.

Don't forget to add the tag (http://technorati.com/tag/awmondaymemes) and do the ping thing (http://technorati.com/ping/) on Technorati when you're done.

Yikes! Yesterday was Monday! I was off work for a 3-day weekend and I think it just seemed like Sunday...so I forgot to do my Meme! What got my attention was that I wandered over to Halspacejock's site (http://halspacejock.blogspot.com/2006/01/meme-from-pbwriter.html)and he had a meme, so I 'nicked' it with a little editing.

AW Monday Meme #6!

Recipe Meme

Open your refrigerator. What is the first item on the left at the front of the 'fridge on the top shelf.

Open the food cupboard closest to the stove. What is the first food item on the right on the bottom shelf (you may go up a shelf if your bottom shelf holds pet food or non-food stuff)

Find online or create for us from your imagination, a recipe using those two things as primary ingredients.

For example: fridge: Snapple diet lemon iced tea
cupboard: rice

I tried Google - there was a listing for hot green tea over sticky rice as a food a Japanese mom would give a child with a stomach ailment. I don't think cold Snapple diet lemon tea on rice sounds too good - but, maybe one could use the tea to cook the rice - it might add an interesting color and flavor. Serve with Teryaki Chicken cut in strips and a fresh salad.

There's my recipe.

What's yours?!

If you Google (or use any search engine) for the recipe, please share the link in your blog and here's the Technorati Tag, too.

The days just fly by! Here we are at another Monday. And a Happy Chinese New Year, as well.

Today's little quiz is about computers and you.

1. Do you remember the first computer you ever used? If so, tell us what you remember and why you were using it.

2. Do you remember the first computer you ever bought for yourself? What was it - if you know details like how much memory it had or anything funny about it, share!

3. What kind of computer are you using right now? Any particular story about you and your computer experience you can share?

4. Is there one thing about having a computer that is particularly important in your personal history? Something you wouldn't have done or known unless you had a computer? Some big change having one made in your life? - for example, I met my SO 15 years ago because I bought a Commodore128 that had a floppy disk in it for an online service called Q-Link (http://staff.jccc.net/lcline/q-link/qlink.htm). We would never have met if I'd bought a different computer.

You can see my answers on my blog :)

Hi Dawno. I read this thread from front to back and back to front again.

Do I get this right - I'm a very slow learner - if I would like to take part in this "meme" thing I can do that when ever I like. There are no obligations to do it every week - some weeks I am so busy at work I barely have time to sleep.

If I do take part. I come here look up what the meme topic of the week is. Right?

Then I post it on my plog and make a story out of it. Right?

I copy/past the html tag into the posts html. Right?

Then I go to Techorati and do the "ping" thing. Right?

I hope that is right and don't make you pull all your hair out.

Ickecked also you blog out about that meme thing and the link to Technorati.

I think for me that meme thing would be fun and a good way to practise my english too, two flies with one swat.

AW Monday Meme #8 The Amazon.com Meme

(or Borders, or whatever book site you want to use)

Write down the names of 3 good friends (best friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, whatever) from High School or College - not current friends who (around here anyway) might be published authors. Oh, you don't write these down on your blog - jot them on a note pad or just keep them in your head.
Go to Amazon (or yadda yadda see above) and type their names (one first/last name set at a time) into the search bar. Maybe only the first name or last name 'hits' that's ok. Have you read any of the books that pop up? List it. (for example, my best friend senior year was Lynne Bxxx I typed it in and Lynne Truss, author of Eats, Shoots, and Leaves was the second book - I own it, that's the one I'd list first)
If none of the books are familiar - is there one you'd like to read? List it. (the second name I typed came up with a lot of exact matches - none I'd read, I'd pick one and post it)
Do that for the other two names.
Here's the voluntary part - if you use the tag, then people can go to Technorati and search on the tag to see that you've done the meme. If you own a book on someone's "I'd like to read" list, why not PM them (if you're willing to) and offer to lend them the book!
I'll be reading your answers and I promise, if you want to read a book I have, I'll PM you. :) Have fun!

Just barely under the wire (it's 11:39 here in Calif.) is the Monday Meme.

This one was referred to me by another AW member (if you want credit 'you know who' please let me know and I'll share your username) who found it on Diana's Diversions (http://dianapeterfreund.blogspot.com/)

Here's how to play:
Take your favorite song lyrics and go to Babelfish (http://babelfish.altavista.com/).
Translate them to German. Then translate that to French. Then translate the French back to English.
Post the results on your blog and see who can guess the song.

You might want to see how that worked on Diana's Diversions (http://dianapeterfreund.blogspot.com/2006/03/messed-up-lyrics.html)and mention in comments that she's the AW Monday Meme for this week :)

Here's the tag so we can check Technorati to see who's done the meme:

My first time posting here, I've decided to start doing the meme. Mine is up on my blog, dtkelly.net . What do I need to do other than putting the url at the bottom of my post?

Thanks.

You can name some other folk to do the meme and check Technorati, tags, AWMondayMeme to find out who else did the meme and read their answers. Other than that, I hope it's just fun to do. Kind of a blogging prompt, if you will.

Tonite you get a choice of memes. One comes from an LJ blog I visited where the blogger had picked up the meme from Patrick Nielson Hayden's LJ - it goes: When you see this, post an anti-war song in your journal. Now, those of you new to meme'ing here's a bit of a meme primer:

1. Always credit where you got the meme. Post the link and name the originator or person who passed it to you. You can go back two links as well but you don't have to go further. Linkage is good for blogging.

2. Tag someone to do the meme next. Better yet, tag a few folk. Try to pick folk that visit often but if you don't, you need to comment on their blogs that you tagged them.

3. If you do the AW Monday Meme, please put the Technorati Tag in your post and go to Technorati and do a 'ping'. Don't know how that works?

Go to Technorati (http://technorati.com/tag/awmondaymemes)(that link takes you straight to the AWMonday Meme tag page) On the right side of the page is a little sidebar that says:

What’s this? A tag is like a subject or category. This page shows blog posts, photos, and links that have been tagged awmondaymemes. To contribute to this page, just post to your blog and include this code (http://technorati.com/tag/awmondaymemes#taglink).

Click on "this code" (at the Technorati site - the link in the quote box just takes you to the tag page again) and a box will appear underneath that looks like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/Ebil_Librarian/technoratitag.jpg

Copy that stuff in the box (it's HTML code that tells Technorati that it's a tag and how to categorize your blog by the tag)

Now - see the "More Tag Help" below the box? When you've added your code to your blog (and you'll have to add it in the HTML editor, not in Rich Text) go back to the AWMondayMeme's page and click on "More Tag Help"
which will take you to this page:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/Ebil_Librarian/techpingpage.jpg

You'll have to scroll down a bit but when you find this:

If your blog software does not support automatic pinging, or if you haven't set it up yet, or if you're not sure, you can manually ping us here (http://technorati.com/ping/). You might also want to configure your blog software to ping us automatically (http://technorati.com/developers/ping/) so you don't have to do that every time.

Click on the "manually ping us here" link and put your blog's URL in the box provided and click "Ping!"

You're done! And when I go look at the AWMondayMemes tag page I'll see your blog listed and I'll go visit!

Now, as promised, you get a choice. Some folk might not want to do the anti-war song meme. That's ok by me. I was tempted not to do it, but I was a teenager in the last years of the Viet Nam War and there's one song that always comes to mind when I hear "anti-war song" so I posted it on my Live Journal account (http://ariz-dgt.livejournal.com/74640.html). My LJ is set to friends only for most posts - but that one's public.

The other meme is one I saw on another AW Blogger's site. I can't remember who - bad Dawno forgot to make a note of the blogger when she copied the meme to save for tonite. *sigh*

Edited to add: Give credit to our own Maestrowork! His blog is at http://itheauthor.blogspot.com/ so be sure to link there!

1. If someone is going to make a movie about you, which movie star/actress should play you?

2. What are your favorite movies and/or books?

3. Coffee or chocolate?

4. Hot tub or beaches?

5. Do you like to take naps? Or do you sleep only a few hours a day?

6. Do you sleep in the nude?

7. What do you consider is your best achievement so far?

2. What's your homepage set to?

5. What do you think you read more: sites, blogs or forum posts.

6. If you're new to blogging what's the most challenging thing for you about it. If you've been blogging for a while what one piece of advice would you give to new bloggers?

Personal Archeology Meme

Time to dig into your past! Just use your best recollection – no need to go digging around in the attic or cellar for this stuff.

1. Do you have a picture of yourself as an infant, toddler or youngster in your own scrapbook, picture album or shoebox? If so, how old were you? What where you doing?

2. What is the oldest piece of clothing you have in your closet. What is it? Do you wear it or just keep it for sentimental purposes, or because you haven’t had time to give it away yet?

3. Do you have any souvenirs? If so, what is the oldest one, where is it from and how did you come to have it?

4. Do you have an appliance, utensil, dish, glass, platter, etc., or cooking implement in the kitchen that you got from a relative when you moved away from home? What is it and who gave it to you?

5. What’s the oldest thing in your medicine cabinet? (and maybe it’s time to toss out the expired stuff!)

6. Was the place you currently live in occupied prior to you? Did they leave anything behind? What? If not, have you ever heard any stories about folk who lived there before you did and would you share one?

7. Do you have any old IDs, business cards or other bits of old flotsam in your purse/wallet? What is the oldest thing there and why do you keep it?

8. Do you have your yearbooks? When was the last time you looked at them? What is the thing you like most about your favorite yearbook? What’s the thing you like least about your least favorite yearbook? (I don’t know if this is a ‘global’ question – so forgive me if you are from somewhere that getting a yearbook is not a tradition)

9. Do you have a(ny) old key(s)? Do you know what it/they’re for? Why did you keep it/them?

10. 100 years from now, what would you wish someone had as a memento of you?

As always it would be ever so nice if you would use the Technorati tag:

For folks in most of the US it is Tax Day. I hear that a number of northeastern residents are getting an extra day and people who suffered loss with Katrina are getting until August - but the rest of us, we had to have our taxes filed (and often, paid) by today.

Here's the Tax Meme!

Are you some one who
(a) starts working on your taxes the moment you get your W-2?
(b) puts it off a bit but actually does it before April rolls around?
(c) a last minute preparer
(d) heck, I pay someone to do it for me

Are you a
(a) traditional paper and pen, put it in an envelope filer
(b) turbo-tax (or the like) all the way!
(c) heck, I pay someone to do it for me - who knows what they do

If you could make only one change to the tax laws, disallowing total repeal of all taxes, what change would you want to see first?

If you get (or just imagine that you got) a refund - would you
(a) save it
(b) save it and immediately adjust your witholding so you get more money each month and Uncle Sam and you are even next year
(c) spend it on something you planned on getting with your refund
(d) rejoice in your good luck and spend it on something spontaneous and fun
(e) heck, I paid my refund to my tax preparer, this is just a 'reimbursement'

Have you ever waited in one of those midnight lines at the Post Office? If so, was there a party atmosphere (http://www.duluthsuperior.com/mld/duluthsuperior/14363822.htm) or not - tell your tale!

That's today's Tax Meme - I'm sorry it's pretty US-centric for my global readership - next week we'll go back to something anyone can write about.

As usual - Technorati Tag:

Aight, this jacked. Gnome sain?

Here's (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=16395724&blogID=111214505) the offending post. Here (http://blog.myspace.com/shiveredsky)'s the blog itself.

I put the proper meme tag in there. I checked it twice. I pinged manually. The text shows up in Technorati's normal search. But when I search tags, it's not there. The newest awmondaymemes that shows up was from last week.

My initial thought was that technorati just started indexing myspace blogs, so maybe it doesn't recognize their tags yet. But I fiddled around and saw plenty of myspace ones under tags. I'm doing something wrong. Do you know what it is?

As far as I can see you're doing everything (well, except for maybe having a MySpace at your age...) right. (and I am kidding about the MySpace)

I don't see my website either OhDawno.org - and I posted the meme and tagged it and manually pinged Technorati as well. I think the problem is on Technorati's side. I'm going to ping it again.

Hi ya'll!

Yes it's Monday and I haven't gotten my meme up yet. Sorry, I spent the weekend working on several projects on the computer and in the home (I have a nifty new scanner/copier/printer/fax combo that I set up all by myself!). I have the germ of a Meme idea (you did know that I make most of these up myself, right? Yep there's no-one else to blame but me if it's totally lame)

I'll work on it and get it posted later - my apologies to those of you who have a special blogging tradition of doing the Monday Meme earlier than this - I'll really try to get them up in the mornings when I can. Keep watching this thread!

I’ve recently changed my hair color and of course that led me to compose a hair meme.

1. What length do you currently keep your hair?

2. Is that different from 5 years ago? 10? How about when you were a teen?

3. What color is it naturally?

4. If you color your hair do you like to go for natural or colorful (like pink or blue, etc.)

5. Ever done something really dumb with your hair?( I’m thinking back to the poodle perm I had once…)

6. What about the hair of a mate or date do you/would you find attractive?

7. Do you have a long standing relationship with a hairstylist or barber? If so, why? If not, why not?

8. What celebrity hair do you like best? Least?

9. What hair fad of the past do you think was the silliest?

10. If a hair genie gave you one hair wish, what would you wish for?

Happy May 1st!

This is a quick and happy meme - is May Day something you have celebrated in the past and/or do celebrate now?

What is May Day to you?
What May Day traditions do you have?
What is the most fun thing you've ever done on May Day?
Are you scratching your head and asking "What's May Day?"

That's all - I'm on business travel this week and slammed with last minute details so I apologize in advance if I'm slow to greet newbies or respond on threads. I'll be back home Saturday evening - meanwhile, Happy May Day!

I could make this as simple as it was in the post where I originally saw it (http://blog.virtualdominion.net/post/159)- but what's the fun of that?? (of course if you like the simpler one, use it! - and credit the Better Living Thru Chemistry (http://blog.virtualdominion.net/post/159) guy, too!)

There's a bit of audience participation involved - so it's important, folks, to go out there and COMMENT!!

Which reminds me - there's going to be a contest soon here in Blogging. Keep watching!
:e2steer:

oh, the meme. Here's how you should post it:

"Everyone who comments in this blog will receive a letter of the alphabet from me. Then they choose 5 words that start with that letter - for whatever reason - and write a couple lines about why you chose that word.

Next, they are to go to their dictionary and write down the last full word (no abbreviations) printed for that letter and supply the definition (say just the 1st meaning listed to keep it brief).

What, don't have a paper dictionary?? Then take one of the 5 words you chose and look it up online and post something interesting about the definition of the word, as well. Maybe it's etymology is interesting or a lower level definintion. If you go to some online dictionaries you may also find out where that word is used in a famous or popular quotation, you could put that down.

So - how does this work? I go to Unique's blog and comment on the post with this meme and she gives me the letter P to write about.

I go back to my blog and write the 5 words as a post under the same instructions quoted above - I don't have a handy paper dictionary (the kids took them when they moved and I've yet to buy a replacement. All I have is my Compact Oxford English Dictionary) so I look up the words at my favorite online research site, Bartleby.com
(http://www.bartleby.com/)
For my first "P" word I choose Periwinkle. I look it up on Bartleby.com and in my sentences about that word I include some of what I read in the definitions.

Periwinkle is a beautiful little trumpet shaped flower, the Madagascar species is used in some cancer medications. It is also the name of a 'marine gastropod' with a pretty shell. Periwinkle ,the snail, has become well established on the Atlantic coast of North America and is edible.

The word is also used for a particular shade of lavender blue by Crayola Crayons. When I got my first box of 64 Crayola Crayons - and oh what an event that was! - I pulled each one out read its name and put it right back where I found it. When I came upon Perriwinkle that word immediately became my favorite color name ever - and one of my favorite colors.

That's how it's done.

If you find the above meme boring or not adventurous enough for you there's this one: List up to ten (10) things you want to say to ten (10) different people. Do not state who these people are. Do not confirm or deny any ‘comment speculation’. You *know* that one will stir the pot...

Man, another Monday! These things just sneak up on me.

I recently received (yet another) forwarded email from a dear old friend who seems to have this addiction to forwarding emails with huge headers of lists of people that have a forwarding addiction...and on and on. I want to scream "Stop the Madness!!!"

It was (yet another) hoax plea email "Help Find This Girl" and I had the unenviable job of sending her the Snopes link (http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/missing/ashleyflores.asp).

*sigh*

For your meme today:

What hoax or scam email have you gotten in the past that you almost believed? Why? How did you find out it was a hoax?

What's the funniest thing you've seen in your bulk mail or spam inbox lately?

Speaking of spam - check out the website (http://www.spam.com/index.htm). I was particulary taken with the giftshop home page. (http://www.spamgift.com/)
