We're having turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry, and rolls with three kinds of pies for dessert.

You?

It used to be turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, yams, homemade cranberry sauce, corn, green beans, cole slaw, rolls, pies . . . and a few other things.

Now . . . maybe pizza.

Alleycat, why no turkey feast?

Not where you last saw me.
It's just the two of us this year, but we're sticking with the traditional favorites: turkey, cornbread dressing, candied yams, green beans, rolls, and pumpkin pie. I bought a largish turkey, so I'll be freezing leftovers as casseroles and turkey pot pies and maybe soup.

Just finished baking two from scratch pumpkin pies and two loaves of banana bread. Also made whole cranberry sauce.

Banana bread will probably be breakfast, if it makes it that long. :D

Relish tray - olives, sweet pickles, carrots, celery, broccoli, radishes.

Spiced cider

Turkey
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Cranberry sauce
Green bean casserole
Crescent rolls
Stuffing

Pumpkin pie with whipped cream

Well, it's Thursday here... And even though we don't have Thanksgiving in Australia, I thought I'd play along. :)

So far today, I have eaten:

Twisties.
Coffee. (4 cups I think...)
Red Bull.
More Twisties.

I'm hungry right now, so I might make some peanut butter on toast. And for dinner tonight I'm thinking I'll have a chicken schnitzel with potato gems.

Potato gems, for those who don't know, are kind of like spheres of potato in a crunchy potato-casing. Kind of like hash browns, I suppose, but small spheres. So delicious! Makes a pleasant change from chips. :tongue

...

Ideally, tonight I would be eating my favourite ever meal, which is as follows. (However, money is a little tight right now, so I probably won't be buying this.)

Penne pasta.
Chicken.
A Napoli sauce (tomato based) with onion, garlic, oregano and chilli in it.

OMG it's so damn good! I could eat that every night, to be honest. When I try making it at home, it doesn't turn out quite the same...

But I haven't made this one in about a year (yikes, that long already?!) ever since sis moved out. Now that it's just me and mum... Well, mum's allergic to onion and garlic. :( Feasibly I could make 2 pots of sauce, but it's such a hassle.

-- This incredible sweet potato souffle!! (I posted the recipe on AW)
-- Cornish game hens wrapped in prosciutto, stuffed with an apple stuffing
-- Rice and giblet gravy

I didn't want a big ole turkey to deal with this year. I'd have made dessert, too, but it would wear me out. Maybe this weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Another Cornish hen here too. Boring stuffing, though. Some roasted potatoes, steamed veggies and homemade applesauce to round it out.

Really boring, but I work midnights and that's about all I'm willing to do, since no one else is helping.

I'm taking homemade stuffing and homemade green-bean casserole to a friend's house. I'm told there will be turkey and other things, but I guess I'll find out when I get there!

I have also purchased A HAM. I put that in all caps because of the sheer size of this thing. A steak is just a steak, but A HAM is a bludgeoning weapon. :D

Tofurky! Mashed potatoes, salads, pies, dumplings, fresh rolls... and I'm hungry already. :)

Well, against all previous plans (see previous post) I wound up going late-night shopping and had a hot dog at the shops for dinner.

Yeah, really big meal... :tongue

Actually, it was the best hotdog I've had in that shopping centre. There's one place I always go to, but I tried somewhere different this time - somewhere I'd never ordered any food from. Comparable price, the first bite was heaven.

The sausage itself wasn't anything special, but OMG the hot dog bun they used was the best ever!

I'm finally having the turkey that Kevin missed hitting with his car. ;)

I let that turkey live for a reason. That turkey was the Messiah, young lady! We're all doomed now. Thanks.

Let's see if I can remember it all....

Turkey, squash, carrots, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and bread in some form for dinner.

For dessert we have pumpkin pie, chocolate creme pie and I'm making maple butter cookies. That's actually a little different from the norm, usually we have apple and pumpkin and no cookies. But I'm sure not complaining, I love chocolate creme pie. ;)

Had ribs. Unfortunately they did not live up to expectation. :(
