After 30 years, someone is finally making a movie out the (music from) The Elder.

Wow, I never thought I'd see this happen.

Think about it! A soundtrack for a movie made 30 years in advance!!

We’ve received some rather amazing news about a theatrical release based on KISS’s 1981 concept album Music From the Elder. Independent film maker Seb Hunter is producing this “post-apocalyptic road movie” slated to start production summer 2012. Check out the movie’s website, we’re fascinated to see how this will develop! Do Kiss know you are trying to make the Elder movie? What do they think about it? Are they going to get involved?

I emailed Kiss's management, explaining what I was trying to do, but have heard nothing back (yet). I then sent an email to Gene via a mutual third party, but haven't heard back from that either. But hey, Kiss are busy people! They'll find out about this soon enough, I'm sure. And I only hope that once they've finished laughing/crying, they'll feel able to support the project, no matter how unofficially. But I'd love them to get involved, if they want to. The more authorisation we recieve, the more resources we'll get access to and the better film we'll be in a position to be able to make. Come on Gene, you know it makes sense!

Oh, I smell trouble on the horizon. As protective as Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are of their brand, I really don't think this bodes well. Sort of like the woman who tried to release her Twilight fanfic commercially and got bent out of shape when people warned her about copyright infringement and silly things like that.

Maybe. But he seems willing to cut them in. And he doesn't need to use the original music much as much as the themes. We'll see!!

Simons needs to slack up on the Kiss brand. In another 10 years no one will remember or care. I mean, they get very little play time on the radios stations these days.

Hell, rock and roll in general gets very little play time on radio stations these days...
