Explanation for the non-Americans?

Sorry. The St. Louis Cardinals baseball team won a playoff game last night which means they're now going to play in the world series. It's a big deal to baseball fans.

<<<That's our stadium in my avatar.

The "go crazy folks, go crazy!" is a nod to a guy named Jack Buck who announced Cardinals baseball for years. It was sort of his trademark phrase. He's a pretty beloved guy around St. Louis.

Here's a little clip.

Anyone mind if I move this thread to Sports and Fitness?

Greta especially?

It's fine in this room, but the other forum could use some extra baseball love. :)

That's fine. Sorry, I've never posted a thread like this, but I was just too damned excited to not share the love with AW last night :). Wasn't sure where to put it.

They were when they played my Tigers. Locked 'em up and threw away the key.

'Grats, Cards fans. Your guys better be good, because the Rangers don't have a weak spot.

I know, I'm scared o' them Rangers. We've got momentum right now though, and that's a powerful thing in baseball. Hopefully we can keep it going.

Sitting in a house, in the country, a short distance from the shadow of The Arch in St. Louis.

Go Rangers! (What can I say? Texas is home. Besides, the Cardinals have a collection of pennants. The Rangers have been to the World Series twice in their entire franchise history.)

Fact is: Go Cards! Go Rangers! Go Baseball! I'm just hoping for a great series.

Go Rangers!

And, from South Texas: Go Cardinals!

(Texas is home, but I still have my little Fredbird from [not thinking about how many] years ago.)

So... this would explain why my boss, who is a Yankees fan, is really, really grumpy at the moment?

Great game. Probably the biggest highlight is going to be that second out by Carpenter.

Is anybody else finding Fox's infrared stuff just a bit creepy? Next time they are showing it, forget the ball and the swing, look at the images around it. Some stuff just shouldn't be white hot at times like that...

Carp's out was great, and kudos to the runner for avoiding stepping on him.

Oh, and yep, the infrared stuff is creepy. I'll watch tonight and see if I notice the images around the batter.
