View Full Version : WO! Anyone else see their book sales spike?

My published author friend was bouncing off the walls as she saw her sales spike during the middle weeks of September on her Amazon Bookscan page. She was puzzled, however, to see that sales immediately plunged, AND that sales were high in New York, L.A., and Chicago; her book is largely of regional interest and sales have been highest in the South.

I reminded her that Borders had just closed and was having a fire sale on its remaining inventory. It's possible they centralized their End Days sale in the big three cities.

Any other authors notice a similar phenom?

Majority of authors I've talked to noticed the same thing.

Sounds like an effect of the death throes of Borders.

The alternative is that if your book wasn't stocked at Borders, or was new at the time that Borders went out of business (both for good and in the earlier rush of closings), you saw terrible sales for those months.
