I'm going to be visiting San Francisco in October for a few days, and we're going to buy one of those City Pass thingies (to see the sights and what not).

My question is: What part of town would be the most convenient to be based in? In which part of the city should I be looking for a hotel?

I'm with my wife, and our 2 month old son. So Buses and Trolleys are great as long as you're allowed to take strollers on them. Taxi's don't work for us, since we won't have a car seat.

You'd probably do best around Union Square (http://maps.google.com/maps?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=s&hl=en&biw=768&bih=428&q=Union+square,+sf&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x8085808ed3fd40bb:0xfe41d9b5994cb6ba,Union+ Square,+San+Francisco,+CA&gl=us&ei=U3R5Tur4FInRiALiw8kl&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CDkQ8gEwAw). It's central to most of the downtown area and BART, trolleys, and buses are all accessible from there, plus lots of stuff is walking distance.

Anything specific you want to see in SF?
