Antique photo sells on e-Bay for $1 million -- It depicts a Civil War era look-alike of Nicolas Cage

$1 million, plus $2.75 postage.

Oh, FFS. Has nobody seen National Treasure: Book of Secrets?

This photo is obviously of Thomas Gates. Good grief. Nick Cage? A vampire? He doesn't even sparkle. *walks off muttering to himself*

I may be a cycnic but to me the resemblance is not that close....

Is it because it's Nick Cage? Why? What's the big deal about the resemblance to him particularly? Of all the billions who have ever lived there's bound to be more than a handful who resemble(d) him or any of us. Since my mid-teens I've often been mistaken for someone named Pam. Kinda weird actually since I've lived all over the U.S. Well crap, now I wonder if I've been stalked for the past 45 years without knowing it.

This is more like the old Twilight Zone episode about the guy who was actually 3000 years old but still looked like he was 35. He was found out when his potential father-in-law found a picture of him as a Civil War officer in a book.

It's like playing "Spot the Differences." In the old photo the guy has a slightly crooked nose and his one ear sticks out more than N.Cage's does.

The facial features are somewhat similar, but there are some major differences, e.g. the ears. Nick Cage's ears are long and flat against his head. The guy in the photo has small, round, projecting ears. For me, that ruins the resemblance.

Not current day Nic Cage, but it looks hella close to a younger version of him circa Moonlighting and Raising Arizona.
