Maybe you should try the AW chat room. Lonely procrastinators, unite!

don't you need a password or something?

No, you should be able to just use the link then enter a username.

If it doesn't work, it might be that you need Java, or maybe your system is blocking it for some reason. If a pop-up comes up asking you to Run a program or Decline or whatever, you need to Run - that's Java trying to work.

If you haven't already, check out the how-to (http://absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178738) sticky info thread in AW Chat forum.

Different isn't always bad...

Ha! Would you listen to me talk!

Did you say something?

Nope, not me. I don't like to talk.

:D

But I know you like to write, right? ;)

Pretty much everybody here likes to write. Or does it nevertheless.

I found myself liking chat, although as an experienced chatter at another site I know it can become a time-suck. But you see many of the same people there you see here, only it may be the ones you don't know quite so well, who seem eager to get better acquainted through banter and such. Warm and welcoming, it seemed to me.

Although I confess it helps a lot if you type fairly quickly.

Maryn, amazed she still can

It is a "time suck" but it's fun! (if done in moderation)

You don't need a password, but the chat room doesn't work unless there's a Mod present (someone with @ before their chat ID). That was a change from the past year or two.

From Mac's post in the how-to:

The room is open whenever there's an available Chat Op to moderate. Because of reported problems when the room isn't moderated, we no longer leave the room open when there's no available chat mod.I'm usually (almost only) there on Sunday evenings for the Flash Fiction Challenge, and every once in a blue moon for Special Events, like maybe a Presidential speech or something a few years ago(?), or if the AW forums are unexpectedly down.
