Hi,
I'm brand new and absolutely green, but thought I would jump in and say hello before I lost my nerve.
I'm from the UK I just wondered whether any new British writers today have been successful in shunning Britain and launching themselves first in the US?
I'm looking forward to finding my way around this site.
Lyssa

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the 'forum jump' you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. After you post 50 posts you can use the SYW areas to get help there. The password for some of the areas is…..vista. A word to the wise, it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Howdy, Lyssa.
I will leave your question to many here who I am sure will be able to answer it.
But I must say, that if you are sitting in your home or at your work in the UK... & you are on your computer right now, in the UK... Then I would have to believe that this great site IS in the UK... Hmmm?
Even though I am in the US, I think it is amazing to be able to hop on here and talk to someone in the UK or Australia or South America, if and when I need such a person.
Soooo... Welcome!

True, Casey, but if it was, I wouldn't have to wait half a day to receive a reply! Anyway as the site is mainly frequented by Americans, I figured they would know more about how things work over the pond than in this tiny backwater where new writers are considered beneath notice.

Hi LyssaL. I'm in the same boat. I've just completed (revision/review stage) a sci-fi novel set in the US and would love to launch it there. I'm not sure whether to query UK agents or US agents. We must compare notes!

Hi Lyssa!

Don't get discouraged, think "Rowlings". Many new writers out in the US that are "beneath notice" too. I'm living proof of it, but am motivated to change that.

Anyway, best of luck!
