What sort of injuries would be likely to occur if a person had one arm twisted behind their back and held by force, but then they had to lunge at their attacker (they were going to kill their child if they didn't, or some other such motivation where they wouldn't care what it did to them)?

Would it be a dislocated shoulder or elbow? Just a twisted or sprained arm? A broken bone? Which ones would be most likely? How much flexibility is there in a scenario like this?

Dislocation sounds most likely, but they could easily do some nasty ligament damage that way too. Broken bone would be very difficult - the joints tend to take the brunt in situations like this.
