When there are no submission requirements, do I just do a standard query?

Good question. I've never come across this...

I've got a similar question that probably doesn't deserve its own thread.

What about agents with no standard website? For instance, I know Michelle Kaass is Patrick Ness's agent, but I can find next to no information on her.

That may be because she does not want any more workload and has therefore shut off all public web presence linked to her as an agent...

Lol no this is totally on topic! This is kind of why I asked the question. I couldn't find anything on said agent. :p

If the agency doesn't have any submission specifications, then you can send a query, a brief synopsis (1-2 pages should do the trick) as well as the first 5-10 pages. If they don't specifically say that they're closed to submissions, then submit. The worst they can do is say no.

Ditto what Susan said. Because she is brilliant.

And also because I was too lazy to insert all the extra spaces. Callalily is more energetic than I by far.

For me, I've sent only the query letter when there's been no submission requirements. Many agents that I've seen request only a query letter and so I carry this through in those that don't specify. If they want more, they will ask for it. Good luck :)
