Cool. I have a family member who did this for a time, but was waylaid by industrial archeology other than trains. (He's into factories, mostly.) Anyway, restoring the big machines of the past is awesome.

And it's awesome that someone has trained a Siamese cat to assist. (In the first picture set.) Or does s/he just yowl when it's time to eat?

The cats are the secret bosses.... Actually they keep down the rodents, with multiple cases of Bubonic plague and Hanta virus a year, rodent control is important.

Kevin

Thanks all,
I think the feed water pump imparts some heat, the pump pistons are steam driven.

Here are the latest photos,

Locomotive was built in 1944 for the AT&SF RR she ran for nine years and logged a million and a quarter miles, donated to the city of Albuquerque for its two hundred fiftieth birthday, purchased from the city by our club in 1999. We have the manuals and blueprints (a room full) and should (we hope) be running this year.

Sorry for the delay, Life happened... sigh

Kevin

That's just freakin' awesome. Beautiful machine. Do you know when and where it was originally built, or any of its other history?

Wow! Think what was going on in the world the last time that train was indoors except in use.
