View Full Version : Formatting for the Kindle

A friend of mine has decided to put out some of her trunk novels on the Kindle and is willing to pay me to format them. As I'm unemployed, this would be fantastic--except I can't find what the format requirements are. All I can find is a couple of books for sale on how to do that.

Has anyone done it or found where this is posted, or shall I go ahead and invest in the books?

Medievalist has started a whole thread about e-publishing and formatting somewhere. I'll have a look for it and add a link here if and when I find it; it might be in the e-publishing section rather than the self-publishing bit, though.

ETA: ah! Here you go. We have a whole subforum for discussing e-book covers and formatting (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=218), which begins with Medie's very useful post which I mentioned, Tools for e-pub (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216176). I'll move this thread over there, which should give you the best chance to get the right sort of help.

Also check out the formatting threads on the Kindleboards Community. Lots of advice and info there.
