We got notice in the paper today about our only Borders will be closed by the end of the month.

Thankfully, our indies and our Barnes and Noble are still going strong.

There used to be 3 chain bookstores down my way.

Borders, Angus And Robertson, and Dymocks.

Now Borders is closing. A&R is on its way out too. And there are very few Dymocks shops left.

*swears profusely*

I suppose I've had a sad for the indie stores that have been run out of business in the last few decades, such as this one:

No argument from me, Ben. It's the rare indie that still is in business. My town used to be full of them. Now? Not so many.

Borders deserves some of the blame, sure, but so does B&N, Amazon, etc.

I used to look forward to that Saturday morning adventure--heading off to the bookstore to browse through the offerings. I guess it's pretty much all going to be done online now.
