The third installment of Suzie's thread starts now.

The second one can be found here (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=199783), and the first one here (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154904).

Have fun, be cool and if you have a chance, surprise the next AW mod you encounter by hugging them, really hard, preferably with a full on, frontal type squeeze to get their attention. Grinding is optional.

I actually am trying something new with my hair. But I'm not going to upload a photo of it, mostly because I don't want my face on the intrawebz.

It's kind of weird though... Whenever I try something new with my hair, I can't stop playing with it, which messes up the look I'm going for.

Like, I don't like having hair over my ears. But my hair is getting longer this winter, and I didn't want the mullet look, so I've brushed it over the sides as well as down the back - instead of just all back.

And now I keep wanting to scratch at the hair on the sides...

So you're saying I should go out with this new haircut and see if any women want to have sex with me?

Cos I'll do it!

Well, I actually wasn't saying that. You just happen to post between the post Susie made and mine . . .

But, it sounds like a good plan to me. Go out. If dozens of women want to have sex with you it's a great style. If hookers offer to have sex with you for free because they feel sorry for you . . . it's probably not a good hair style.

It was back in the heady 1950s. Back then they also thought we'll all have nuclear powerplants in our basements and be flying around in heli-cars.

Yeah, there was the problem of spending the equivalent of $100 million to deliver $80 worth of mail.

Eep.

The only vehicular crash I've been a part of was when a car ran a red light, and the bus I was on smashed into its side.

I'm not sure the bus driver even bothered braking... We didn't seem to slow down in the 2 or 3 seconds that I saw the crash coming.

I then had to wait on the side of the road for a replacement bus. Apparently they're not allowed to ferry passengers around when the bus doesn't have a front bumper.

Who knew?

I'm getting 3 teeth removed in about 2 hours from now. And false ones put in.

*gets nervous*

I really don't like going to the dentist's. They always manage to hurt me somehow.

On the plus side, this particular dentist's office is full (FULL!) of gorgeous women dentists. I don't think a single guy works there. That's a dentist's office I can get on board with!

Of course, my dentist has seen how bad my teeth are, so I don't think it'd go so well if I started coming on to her...

Like, "Hey, you just fixed part of my awful set of teeth. Wanna make out?"

Yeah, AC, I just had 3 teeth removed at my age. It's really bad. But then, I drank nothing but soft drink (and alcohol) for about... 15 years of my life. So even though I'm only 27, my teeth are pretty bad.

And it didn't help that the 2 at the front were poking out, which meant they collected acidity like nobody's business.

Anyway - it's done now.

I'm already sore, even though I'm still supposed to be numb. I hope this isn't as bad as when I had my wisdom teeth out... I don't think I could handle that much pain again.

And my mouth tastes awful right now. The (hot) dentist put seaweed extract on the gums where the teeth came out, and it's foul.

*tries to move on with life*

Oh, and did I mention I'm not allowed to smoke for 2 days? I'll never make it that long... If I do it'll be a fucking miracle.

Sydneyd
07-19-2011, 11:26 AM

I guess I'll get used to it eventually...

Sydneyd
07-19-2011, 12:59 PM

Hmm. Well, the numbness has worn off, and the pain isn't too bad. I still don't really feel like eating anything, but I'm not that hungry anyway.

Now I think I'll go to bed early, read for a while, and hopefully drift off to sleep without too much hassle.

I'm trying to remain positive. I do have a nice smile now... But it's still kind of depressing to be a 27 year old with 3 false teeth. And the plate is making it hard to talk properly. I can talk alright when I purposefully slow myself down, but during actual conversations it's hard to slow yourself down.

Anyway, Night Funners!

A new thread. Nice.

I miss passion. I mean, I miss seing it in others. Most people on these boards write but alot of them don't seem happy about it. Writing because you have to, that's not passion,that's....an addiction. The same thing as when some artists always doodle on everything. Not because it's particularly enjoyable but they don't know what else to do. All right. Enough with the babble.

So, a new thread huh? AW should turn these pages into a book and call it Lady of The House and her....*something*..

Good morning, house of pie-in-the-sky.

Yesterday, in the UK, was National Custard Pie In The Face Day. I kid you not! Sky News featured it last night (after endless coverage of the phone hacking scandal that appears to getting close to Number 10 Downing Street.)

I wonder if the Muppet has gone underground to avoid it. Or maybe he didn't and is still struggling to get the custard out of his hair.

I reckon the image of the muppet getting a custard pie in the face would pretty much make AC's day. Right, AC?

Curiously enough, we had our grass mowed in the last couple of days too. :)

Oh, and update on the "I might be moving" scandal: the grandparents have put a hold on one of the (not yet built) retirement village houses. It's entirely refundable for about 6 months. And in a couple of weeks, they'll be checking out one of the houses built exactly the same as the one they put a hold on.

So mum's plan gets one step closer to completion. Dun dun dun!!

On the plus side, I checked out grandad's bedroom, the one I would be staying in if we moved there when they move out - and it's a little bigger than I thought. I could fit a few things in there, instead of basically just my bed. I'll still need the "new room" built outside, or else there'll be no room for the rest of my stuff.

I was a little shocked at my electric bill last month; I hate to think what it will be this month. We have some of the lowest electric rates in the US, but day after day of 90+ temperatures means the heat pump is running almost constantly.

I thought of you earlier today, Syn. I got my October (yes, October) issue of Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine. I thought the subscription was probably close to expiration, so I looked at the address label to see. I could barely read it; it was like tiny phone book text, or even smaller. If I were the USPS (thankfully, I'm not, I couldn't afford to be), I would make commercial mail use at least a reasonable size for the address (say, 10 point).

I hadn't noticed it before. I don't use my glass around the house and I could just barely read the text without my glasses on. I'm near-sighted in one eye, and far-sighted in the other, so I can usually read without my glasses. It's funny, but I can sort of read my computer screen better if I lean way back in my chair.

Hi Syn, hi AC.

Your postal service cannot be as bad as ours. I think we still use a runner with a forked stick!

Nine months after some material was sent to me by a college in California it was returned to them marked 'no such address'. They had addressed it correctly to my post box, with the correct zip code but put in the word Johannesburg. J'burg has several different zip codes, so instead of sending it to my post office our genius' sent it all the way back to the US.

*face palm. sigh*

True story. One of my friends was out feeding her cattle last winter. Snowy day, really not fit to be out--but the moo-moo's have to be fed.

She found the Bud truck stuck at a corner that they didn't quite make. Lisa got the tow strap out, hooked on to their truck and pulled them out of the ditch. They gave her a case of Michelob Ultra.

I doubt I could manage something like this in my little Jeep, so I lowered my expectations and keep hoping there's a candy truck that needs some assistance. :)

I've been practicing smiling at people I'm talking to. I still don't have what I'd call a "natural" smile... But it's better than it was. I mean, I don't feel so conspicuous smiling now, as when I had some bad teeth out front.

And I'm slowly getting used to talking with the plate in my mouth. Exciting, I know.

I was talking to a cute girl in a shop today. Normally I'm really bad with eye contact, and I used to curb my smiles because of the rotten teeth. But today, I was holding her eye contact more often, and actually letting myself smile when it seemed appropriate. :)

Who knows? I might even wind up being a normal person one of these days! (Ha!)

But yes - confidence growing. Once I can talk properly again, I imagine I'll have more confidence than I've had since Primary School... :)

Evening funners! You almost lost your dear friend sydney today. So I went rafting with my brother, his gf, my sister, her bf and my bf. At one point the four of them (brother, gf, sister, bf) were on one side of the river bank because they had dropped something into the current. I was on the opposite side watching my neice and nephews.

Then the worst thing happened. My brother dropped the oar. Their boat is big and there was no way they could control it down river with only one. So the frantic call was made "Grab the oar, grab the oar!"

My sister ran to the end of her bank (on the opposite side) but she reached the end just as the oar went into deeper water and because of her eardrum problems she had as a kid, she cant fully submerge her head.

Now I am on the opposite bank, all hope is lost, and they are still screaming "Get the oar! Get the oar!" So what does this stupid person do? I jumped in the fast moving, cold river. I got to the oar pretty easily. But when I turned to get back to the bank I realized how hard it is to swim while carrying an oar. So I flipped over to my back, trying to tell myself to calm down. After a few seconds of this I looked back at the bank, I was no closer, and in about 15 feet I was gonna go over another set of rapids, but without a boat. It was at that exact moment that I thought, "I could actually die right now." But I kept my wits about me and realizing swimming was out, (I couldnt move fast enough just kicking, and I couldnt use my arms without the tip of the oar dipping in the water) I proceeded to start stabbing the oar below me hoping I would reach water shallow enough that I could anchor in and get my feet down. I did and I was able to (my toes feel pretty broken right now)

But on the bright side, I decided a possible death circumstance deserved a bacon cheeseburger. Yum!

I think if you did put that in a book, you better add piranhas. Ooh! And box jellyfish! A crocodile or three, and have Tarzan try to rescue you, but he's shot by the Lone Ranger for stealing apples. And then afterwards you can have a bacon cheeseburger, only it's been poisoned. By Dracula.

Cliff Face
07-21-2011, 12:00 PM
Okay, back to something more sensible...

I know you can have "Bestselling author".

But what would you say for a similar amount of success for a screenwriter? "Bestselling screenwriter" doesn't sound quite right... Like, usually their success comes from cinemas, and that's not exactly a selling thing, I suppose. Isn't it more like, "Watching once then leaving with popcorn in their hair"?

Silent Rob

Croquet is an excruciatingly exciting game. It would be very hard not to get sweaty playing croquet.

A jug of chilled pimms might help.

No like fish. Now lobster, I'll take that.

Silent Rob

I would never intentionally hurt a hoomin.

London was dirty, fanks, Duchess.

I don't like fish either.

When Pinatas Attack! Great, that's the name of my new book. *writes it down furiously*

Good morning, pie addicts, roaring muppets, and pinata wranglers.

Well, the stress levels have gotten to the point where it feels like the back of my neck and head are about to explode. I think I need pie.

I don't Twitter . . . although I do Flutter.

My heart's all atwitter. Or is it all aflutter? I can never tell the difference. I don't twitter or facebook or anything like that. I especially stay away from forums. I'm not very sociable.

The best of both worlds = Chocolate Pecan Pie!!!

http://instoresnow.walmart.com/uploadedImages/Food_Center/Recipes/Unilever_Provided/ChocolatePecanPie.jpg

DANG!

That looks so good, I've gotta make one this weekend. ;)

Two of my favorite foods togetheróchocolate AND pecans! Sad to say, I made a 2-hour trip to the Dallas Farmers' Market yesterday morning and have a LOT of strawberries to deal with today. So, plans are for a strawberry cream pie: Homemade vanilla butter custard in a pecan meal-graham crust with glazed strawberries and whipped cream on top.

It's sad that I have to do something with the berries TODAY because yesterday my car battery died and we were stuck in Plano for over 5 hours waiting for a tow truck at rush hour, then for the tow and battery replacement. My produce was as hot, tired, cranky and sweaty as I was when we got home at 10:00 last night.

Oh, and the name of the towing service? Tow Jam. ewww how gross is THAT for the name of a company?

Duchessmary
07-21-2011, 09:33 PM
Tow Jam. :roll:Would you believe they have the same company in Hawaii??

You guys are making me slobber with all this talk of pies and food.

Everything seems to be going pretty well here, admitting I only read this page.

The good news from here is that the crepe myrtle season seems to be coming to an end. Beautiful flowers - red, white, beige, and best of all lavender. Soooooooooooooo allergic to them sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

The season is longer than it used to be. Why can't I get used to them?

bettielee
07-22-2011, 12:19 AM
Because the end times are coming. This is the hell on earth we were warned about.

:)
