After wading through 20 of the 44 pages of post in this section, I have concluded that there is no thread on this subject. If I am mistaken, I apologize. I'm sure I'll know soon enough.

Who is your favorite artist/group/band? I know I can't pick just one, so I've seperated mine into genres. Feel free to do the same if you have the same problem.

Gen. Rock: The Beatles
'Classic' Rock: Pink Floyd
Metal: The Black Dahlia Murder
"Indie": Bright Eyes
Classical: W.A. Mozart
Reggae: Bob Marley
Blues: ZZ Top

If I can think of any more later, I'll add them. Please share yours!

It varies, but when I want rock I usually listen to Eric Clapton, The Eagles, or Bob Seger. Lately I've been on an 80's hairband binge with Poison and Guns & Roses.

For country, 80s and 90s stars like Alabama, George Strait (I know, he's still at the top), and groups like Little Texas, Restless Heart, etc. And lesser known people like Lionel Cartwright and Radney Foster (listening to Soldier and Angel Flight, respectively, today).

I listen a lot to Brian Burns (class country with some interesting twists and remakes of old rockers like Uriah Heap) when I write. It helps get me in the right frame of mind for my narrator.

Kinda all over the place, but usually when I'm on LONG drives, these are the three that get the most playing time: U2, Paul Simon, Jewel, and the Stones.

Crossfade :) . There music seems more experimental to me and I like that. That's probably the reason why I loved the second and third album more than the first.

Oldies: ABBA, Billy Idol

I chuckled when I read Billy Idol being described as an oldie. I remember when he went solo and made his first appearance on Solid Gold. He looked so strange he scared me a little. A few years later, I slam danced at one of his concerts. :)

My favs?
Floyd, no contest.
Bob Dylan comes in second, followed closely by CCR and Harry Chapin.

At the moment, I'm in love with Murder By Death. If you've never heard them, YouTube right now.

Good call! They're on my list, as well, and it is unfortunate they're not as popular as they should be. I see them live every time they come to my city, which is pretty often!

The rest of my favorite artists, in absolutely no particular order, and not divided by genre:

Ani DiFranco
Tool/A Perfect Circle
Medeski, Martin, & Wood
Incubus - I am seriously in love/lust with Mike Einzinger
Nickel Creek
Ani DiFranco
Bob Dylan
Heart
The Beatles
Jethro Tull
Did I mention Ani DiFranco? :D
Mos Def
Adele
Regina Spektor
Peter Tosh & Bob Marley (together and separately)
Dave Matthews Band
Audioslave

I could go on, but I won't. ;)

ETA: I forgot Chicago!! I love me some Chicago! How can you resist those horns?!

I could post a long list like all the other folks here (some good choices too!), but I think, if I had to hack away at it, there'd be two men standing at the end:

Tom Waits and Jack White (he's a cheat-choice with three bands, but hey).

Pink, One Republic, Matchbox 20, The Script...I have lots more I just listen to when I'm in the mood or when the song is stuck in my head, but these are the four where I love every single song they come out with.

Been finding some awesome tech/prog metal bands lately... Behold... The Arctopus, Augury, Cynic, and Fleshgod Apocalypse, to name a few. There are a few others from those genre that I can count as favorites that I've known about for a while: Necrophagist, Sleep Terror, The Faceless, Within the Ruins, Animals as Leaders, and Viraemia.
