I looked at Adobe InDesign but it appears to export to ePub format, not mobi. However, it exports really well!

I'd like to sell my eBook as many places as possible but having a bear getting it to pass epubcheck at smashwords - 4 errors that are not created at other free .doc to .epub sites.

Any ideas? Many thanks!

Calibre can import several e-book formats and convert them to other formats. I currently create RTF files as my foundation, save a copy as DOC to produce the Smashwords file, and import into Calibre to convert to EPUB & MOBI.

Do you import then just not publish using smashwords (publish on your own) or use smashwords to publish/distribute?

I look at the video at the bottom of this page:

and think, holy cow, that's nice. But it would never pass ePub for any other device, just the iPad.

I've been building web pages since 1995. I would like to build an eBook that resembles something like a real book, with pictures. It would be easy to do that in html except include pics, movies, ... anything the web can handle but in an eBook.

Any ideas? Many thanks!

Have you checked out the Tools for ePub (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216176) sticky yet?
