CHIK-Lit that isn't funny?

I don't know whether its chik-lit or not...but its something I'd probably pick up to read.

That's the one thing that really gets me about romance (and I'm speaking as an insatiatiable fan of the genre here)...no one is ever overweight, ugly, or handicapped (well, I have read about one handicapped man-paralyzed-who was the hero in one of Kathryn Shay's books...it was REALLY good because he wasn't perfect, he had doubts about his ability to attract women, how they would respond to his appearance (withered legs)--but it was really about his self esteem issues). I think people are willing to read about anyone or any situation--if given the chance.

Most of the time though, we aren't given the chance. And that sucks!

Nope. Chick lit has a sassy protagonist narrator OR an overall irreverant tone.

Sounds like you're writing women's fiction.

To me, it seems like most chick lit have overweight heorines. Thats not exactly considered romance, although to me chick lit pretty much is romance, plot wise.

Definitely sounds like women's fiction.
