I've been starting novels since I was a kid, but this is the first one I've ever completed. It's a minor accomplishment for a forum full of authors, but I never could have done it without the advice and encouragement I received here. Thank you all.

The first draft is way too long at 97,424 words, so baby will need a haircut. I guess now is when the REAL work begins.

Thanks again, and all the best.

Excellent!

Not sure why you think it's way too long at 97k - are you writing MG/YA?

I am. It's YA science fiction, and the advice I've read says 90K is the outer limit. I'll whack it down to size.

Thanks for your kind words.

Fabulous!! Take a minute to pat yourself on the back before you grab your editing pen.
