This is a rather silly question, I know that, but I'm really at a loss for words at the moment and can't figure out this problem myself. One of my characters has the habit to move/twitch her head in a certain way to get her hair out of her face. Exactly like horses do... I'm everything but an expert considering horses but I've seen them do that quite often, you know what I mean? And I've also seen quite a few people doing that. It is supposed to look arrogant and she especially does it when she gets annoyed/angry.

Does anyone know how to properly describe it without sounding totally stupid? Help...

tossed her head

flipped her hair

You could also describe it once, something like "Ann had the annoying habit of tossing her head to flip the hair out of her face. It always reminded me of a horse . . . "

A neologism is called for. Equinely. The adverbial form of equine.

She tossed her head equinely.
