The character in view is one of the comic strip's protagonists, who is gay and somewhat obsessed with Transformers. He's a fictional character, but the convention and the question & answer are plucked from reality.

That answer from the Transformers: Prime panel went from “cute deflection” to “yikes” in about ten seconds.

Not familiar with the Transformers universe, so that third panel created a nice breeze as it flew over my head.

The media I'm referring to is the comic strip, not the creators of transformers, incidentally.

I didn't really get it either, though a little time with Wikipedia helped a bit. That's a pretty screwed-up comment, but good on the comic artist for showing consequences to prejudice. Makes me want to read the comic (it's not one I'm familiar with).
