Do you find that when you do nice things, nice things happen to you?

I do.

I sent the SOS press release out to everyone who ever said hello to me in an elevator at a media event. (I save business cards the way I used to save pennies. The cards are worth more.)

One of the editors I sent it to, replied and asked me if I would be interested in coming to work for her.

I have an interview tomorrow.

Wow. Thanks, everyone. I appreciate all the support.

First, the press releases I sent out started appearing in papers today, and another batch will go to press tomorrow. I hope they help sell some books.

Second, I wish someone would move the bookmarks and posters to storiesofstrength.com (the porn filters my company uses stop access to jennaglatzer.com, and getting the IT guys to do something about it will take longer than my generation has left).

Third, my interview went very well. She offered me the managing editor's desk at a small newspaper. I'll decide in the next week whether to take it or not.

Be nice to people, say nice things about people (when you can), and they'll remember you. I'm not nearly as talented as my good fortune would indicate. Networking really works. Who knew?

Jenna, I think it's your first name. I was curious after reading the posts and did a quick search and found that "Jenna" is often blocked -- has to do with Jenna Jameson being the "biggest star in the history of adult movies."

It takes me thirty seconds to add a website to our security software's whitelist even when logging into the server remotely from my cranky old Windows98 Pentium 233 workstation. Tell them to quit playing tetris and get it done! :box:

To ensure everyone can get at the sites, they should add these sites to the whitelist:

www.absolutewrite.com
www.storiesofstrength.com

If they balk, go to the boss and tell them about the project, then have him gently suggest to them that instead of changing the hot chick in HR's password so that she has to come see them to ask them to 'fix' her computer every day, they might direct their energies into this little chore.

Then threaten to take out the soda pop machine. :tongue
