We want to insert gray-scale images into our book. Can we just insert them anywhere we want into the manuscript or do we have to do something special? Will they come out OK if we just have black & white pages?
Whether you're printing by digital print on demand or offset printing, you can insert grayscale images anywhere you like within the book. For digital, make sure they don't go closer than 1/2" to the edge of the page.
It's important to prepare the images for printing. Things that look good on screen don't always translate well to paper. And you'll have to make sure your images are 300 dpi at the reproduction size.
