I'm sure they've been planning to make a smooth transition.

Gosh, this story was way less relevant than I thought.

Robert Loomis was a major editor at Random House for over 50 years, nurturing all kinds of modern authors. Now he's retiring. Is this of any interest to people here?

The Botox on an 8yo thread has something like seven or eight pages but the retirement of a legend sparked a meh.

Yes, that says something about us.

I think because we are in an industry that can change any moment - agents/editors move houses, poor sales can leave us agentless, or our editors retire/die - we realise that we need to be flexible in our outlook.

I'm sure he'll be a loss to RH. But I'm sure he's at a age where he would like a rest to enjoy the rest of his life. It would be great to see him write his memoirs though.
