In regard to the humor book being requested by a publisher, some of my ideas are for cartoons to be drawn on the pages, but I can't draw cartoons. Should I just explain the cartoon in a text box, or should I search for a cartoonist to do it? If I enlist the help of a cartoonist, who owns the clip?

Thanks, y'all for all your sound advice on this thread.

Your best bet is to explain the cartoon and let the publisher find an illustrator. If you have a rapport with the publisher, you can always ask what they would prefer for you to do.

I suspect if a cartoonist helps you, the credit would be split between the two of you.
