This movie is just precious to my heart. Just thinking about it, I had to watch in on the "Play Now" on Netflix. Maybe it's just a childhood nostalgic (my husband didn't get it), but there was just something hopeful and magical about this simple little film that just makes you smile the entire time...until the end. And then your smile returns even bigger.

I know it was made in 1956, but the way it looks one could think it was made in any year. And you don't even have to understand the language to watch it! In fact, I preferred to watch this one without the English subtitles.

That little boy's cry of "Balloon! Balloon!" makes you just want to echo it.

It's an adorable film. :) I think you may also like Jacques Tati's Mon Oncle. About a child who lives with his very materialistic parents who finds joy and solace with his eccentric and bohemian uncle.
