As I type this, almost 400 people are viewing this particular forum, Mystery/Thriller/Suspense. I just thought that was cool.

Tee hee. Yeah, it's crazy how many people are on here at any given time.

The more I'm looking, the more I think that has to be some kind of mistake. Even the B&BC section (which is usually the most popular) is only getting something like 80. Maybe instead of refreshing every fifteen minutes ours is on an hourly basis or something?

This is a job for Medievalist, who will say something wise about Spiderbots.

Well, mystery is the second largest genre out there, and by a very wide margin.

We usually don't have more than six or seven. There's no way we're really getting fifty times more traffic than anywhere else on the boards. Uh...I can't count so don't assume that fifty times is correct. :tongue

I'm curious now. This is a mystery! Hm...theories...theories...

So I'm thinking that Jude decided that in order to sell more M/T/S books, we needed to increase exposure, and the best way to do that was to imply that we're sooo the most popular (she got the idea from that guy who wanted to buy 100k copies of his own book to hit the bestseller list). She knew subtlety was key, so she had Ken hack the forum and change the algorithm.

So HeyJude, in the library, with Ken's Macbook Air!

It's the first week of the month, and we're being indexed.

74 of the viewers are real people.

N.B. Some of them opened the window in the tab, and are likely looking at recipes on another site entirely. Some of them might even be looking for prawn.
