View Full Version : SUBMISSION CALL: "Writings On The Wall"

04-25-2011, 04:33 AM
Seven Archons is a fledgling publishing venture searching for submissions for our very first anthology. We want transgressive fiction—think Palahniuk, Selby, Burroughs.

What if your identity was a prison and self-destruction was your freedom? For "Writings on the Wall", we're looking for original transgressive tales involving highly developed characters who are nihilistic, anti-social, and seemingly mentally ill. These characters should feel out of touch, not only with themselves, but with the world around them. Give us your grittiest, unbound fiction. Stay to the point, but nothing is off limits. However, keep in mind we do want quality writing. If it is purely for the sake of shock value, it will be rejected.

Deadline: July 1
Please submit in:

Just wanted to pop on here and remind everyone that if you're thinking of submitting, there is less than a month left!

Only two weeks left!

I'm actually a little unclear on exactly what it is you want. I have some ideas that use a main character who's a little odd and out of touch, but I wouldn't say that they're "transgressive" or "nihilist."

Basically, on a scale from one to ten, where 1 is "everyone hugs and shares their toys" and 10 is "torture porn," exactly how dark are you looking for?

Sorry, just saw this post. We don't want torture porn. Have you ever read Chuck Palahniuk? His writing is the biggest inspiration for this anthology. Some other comparable authors are Douglas Coupland, Hubert Selby Jr., William S. Burroughs, Bukowski. By a number scale, I would say go for an 8.

However, last day to get that story in! Sorry I didn't see this earlier.
