Hey all you writing-about-animals folks,

I hope everyone in Wilma's path stays safe! Please check in when you get a chance. I've got lots of friends and business contacts in places that are getting slammed right now and I'm concerned.

Stay safe!

Highland Beach, FL (between Boca and Boynton, near Deerfield and Delray)

Hi AnneI've spoken with my mom a few times, she and my dad are in a highrise on the beach in Highland Beach, FL, which is one town north of Boca and about 30 mins south of West Palm, 25 mins north of Ft. Lauderdale.

What she describes is an inside-the-tornado kind of scene with screens, patio furniture, lawn gnomes, lamppost fixtures and parts of trees flying everywhere. Somehow, my dad is sleeping through the whole thing! But she said that it sounds like a freight train. They're on the 11th floor. They lost power around 8:15am and are told that all should be done and sunny between 1-2pm.

Wild stuff. Thank goodness they're safe.

Wow, Jill! That is so scary. I'm glad they're okay, and glad your dad was able to sleep through everything. lol. I can't imagine even being sleepy with that stuff going on! The noise must be incredible.

I'll keep them in my prayers. Thanks for the update!
