Just passing along the word. They are one of my publishers and have been great to work with. Professional, on time, and very accommodating to their authors. :D

[Redacted links, since I'm getting multiple malware/infected site warnings, in various browsers - PLEASE NOTE: this is a legit site, and we're looking for contact information to let them know about the malware infections. -- Mac]

I'M PUTTING THIS IN CAPS--THE SECOND LINK ABOVE "CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS--TO CATCH A KILLER" HAS BEEN BLOCKED AS MALWARE ON MY COMPUTER. (I USE AVAST.)

I got something trying to add on, but it was blocked.

Weird, it didn't block anything for me. You can surf around the site to see the other entry if your so motivated. :)

Ann,

When would you be able to put up the publisher's website again?

Main Page for Liquid Silver Books (http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com/)

Liquid Silver Books Forums (http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1860)

Subforums: Authors -> Submission Calls (http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=287)

Try it from there. I haven't had any alerts or anything pop up, but then again I didn't the first time either. Hope it's not something on my end :(

Oh, and Mac, linking this page to the LSB Tech Forum so they can see it just in-case you haven't been able to contact them yet. :)

It seems fine now, and I was able to click on several links without any malware message popping up.

I can't get the site to actually come up properly, and it sends my hard disk spinning madly.

I had to panic-close my browser. I'm running a virus scan now, just to be sure. It could be that they were hacked and their site's just still messed up after fixing that, but something's not right.

Hi all, Liquid Silver Books owner here.

This is strange. Our server techs report no problems, and no one else has complained--we have a regular flow of site visitors 24/7 so we hear of any problems quickly and often :)

One of the links Ann posted points to a private area of our forums, where access is restricted to our authors and staff. Anyone else clicking that should get the standard vBulletin "Access denied..." message, but there shouldn't be any extra stuff going on.

I/we am always contactable at our support@ email address, or via our forums. Sorry you guys got a scare, but beats me what was going on--any suggestions welcome, I'm curious about this.

I ran a long and in-depth virus scan that's worked reliably for me in the past. It didn't find anything, just FYI.

I haven't re-tried any of the links in the thread again, and frankly I'm not going to risk it again. But I did Google LSB and clicked through the search engine links with no problem. Didn't see anything about the calls mentioned by the OP on the submissions page, just general guidelines, but all the pages loaded without anything wonky going on.

Sometimes certain site tools and innocent scripts will cause the malware warning. I visited and didn't have a problem. Using Chrome as my browser, Spybot S&D's teatimer running- nothing popped up.

We had a bad experience with malware on my husband's site. A customer sent an email stating that Google blocked our site with a warning. Turns out someone had hacked into the site and dumped a trojan into the code. We had to work with our webhosting service to locate and remove it. I think (but obviously cannot confirm) that they hacked in through the host's server.
