I had a friend move to western New York from Alaska. She insisted it was much colder here than there. She literally had to buy a heavier coat for here.

I love Alaska! So jealous!
In the summer months it's actually not that bad ranging from jean and a t-shirt to when it gets later you generally put on a sweatshirt or something. Also there's 22 hours of daylight in the summer. In the winter it's 22 hours of darkness.
And you get a tax break for letting oil companies drill there.
But that's all I know. Sorry
