Hey everyone.
I'm currently fifteen years old and have been writing both poetry and prose for a good two years.
Unfortunately, my tolerance for reading/writing prose has been reduced to almost nothing, and as such I'm almost exclusively a poet now.
I unfortunately live in rural Missouri.

Oh, and I tend to avoid cliche writing. Just a warning.

Edit: I posted three of my more recent works in the modern/short poem subsection in the poetry area. I'd very much appreciate a look.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

It wasn't a warning as much as it was a statement that I attempt to avoid writing it.
Anyway. I probably shouldn't have posted my three poems.
Sorry.

Ken, this is a good place, You don't have to live the rest of your life tonight.

We know it's hard being fifteen.
I'm not sure how my age is relevant, and in hindsight shouldn't have even mentioned it.
I did look around on the forum for awhile before even registering.

Hi Ken!

"WELCOME" to AW and all it has to offer. I believe you will find this forum a wealth of informational resources and a good place for YOU to share your knowledge and experience with others.

Don't worry about the small stuff, because it's all small stuff in the grand scheme of things. I'm looking forward to learning more about you and your writing.

Again Ken, welcome!

Greetings and welcome to the watercooler :welcome:

Take a wander around the various forums, there's lots to see and lots to learn, and even some fun threads too. Come along and pop on over to the Newbie Pub (at the top of the Newbie forum) and say hi, there's plenty of friendly faces that you can chat with and lots of banter. There's also the Question of the Day threads at the top of the Newbie forum where you can answer random questions.

Don't forget to read the newbie guide, and if you want to know what all the buttons mean check out this thread.

"I unfortunately live in rural Missouri."

Some of my fondest memories are from rural Missouri . . . Carl Junction in the late 30's and early 40's to be exact. I've also lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco and currently Las Vegas - - Take it from an old geezer . . ."The place you just left, and the place you'll go next, are always the best places you'll see in your life."

Welcome! Can't say I'm a real fan of poetry myself, but that doesn't mean much. Hope that you come to frequent here more than I do. Ahaha. =P

Thanks everyone! I've been around on various other forums, so I have an idea of how it works, but I wasn't entirely aware of the little nuances here. So I suppose your links did help.

Don't sweat the age thing. You were probably correct in your previous assessment of not mentioning your age. You should have waited until you put something truly brilliant up and then went "Ah ha! I am a mere 15 years old, take that!" Also, I know you probably despise where you live now, but.. well, it won't always be that way. Furthermore rural MO? Take it all in, man. Nature is great for drawing poetry. Good luck :)

J'Dubee got it.

The area I live in is really worse than the state itself. I love the natural sights here, and it has inspired me. I'm just not a fan of the activities around here.

Hi & Welcome. I write poetry as well. I would happy to take a look at your work.

"I unfortunately live in rural Missouri" ...well I don't live in Missouri but I certainly understand rural-I grew up in a tiny town along the Alabama gulf coast.
